Considering The Zip

  • by

Unmeasured the space between us
With our worlds seperated by a void infinite
The edges close enough to touch
Yet ragged enough to never truly meet

Did you ever feel you belonged?
That part of you could bond?

I nod at your response
I too believed I was whole alone
At one, as one
Complete

Until I reached
Grasping for you across the chasm
Eyes upon yours
Heart upon yours
Hand upon yours

We close the space between us
Million tiny rocks meeting, pushing
Bending, warping the foundations on which we stand
Helpless, unmeasured space growing between us

And so we wait
And gaze across the chasm
Eyes upon yours
Heart upon yours
Hand upon yours

Waiting for the teeth to match
Waiting for the ground to mesh
Waiting for the bond to form
Waiting, and considering the zip.
