That, Which You Lost

  • by

It's power to control becomes immeasurable
Your life tainted, heart strained, reluctant
Your every breath unsure, nervous
Once it's lost

Ice cold fingers
Running through your mind
Touching, feeling every thought
Rewording every comment
Disguising every movement
Fingers belonging only to that;
Which you lost

Eyes seek solace in the ground
The concrete below your feet
It's truth, it's reality
Realising slowly that the only fault
The only earthquake that threatens
Comes from that;
Which you lost

Thick black bars
Growing around your being
Protective, defensive cage
Deflecting all potential
Securing you from the pains
Paranoia caused by that;
Which you lost

Tired mind sleeps
Restless, dreamless
Lost to a dark, cold world
Eating all the goodness
Destroying all the happiness
A world in which you crave
The trust;
Which you lost

It's power to control becomes immeasurable
Your life tainted, heart strained, reluctant
Your every breath unsure, nervous
Once trust is lost.
