Intruder

  • by

Floorboards creak after night falls
The disembodied footsteps of a man unseen
Crawling, creeping around my home
And no name does he hold
No guilt does he feel
No face does he show
But tonight, I sense that he's real

Shadows twitch just out of view
Their stillness all too suspicious
Skulking, sneaking around my home
And no sound does he make
No apology to share
No figure to confront
Yet I know that he's there

The covers discarded ceremoniously
This bed a sanctuary no more
Since the birth of the intruder
No comfort shall I feel
No rest shall I gain
No sleep till I figure
This intruders real name
