Belief

I believed in fate
In belief, and in faith
I trusted my instincts
And believed I was safe

Over hurdle, through failure
Past the troubles and pain
I'd raise my head slowly
And do it over again

I believed in a reason
In a purpose and in chance
And so I stood my ground firmly
Defiant, my stance

Through nightmare and anguish
Past failure and through blame
I walk, though I falter
Growing tired of the game

I believed as I suffered
Through faith and belief
But the hope I once trusted
Fails to bring back relief

Through life and through torment
As I fall, to regret
Here I lay in self-pity
And those beliefs, I forget
